PAT Testing

We make it easy to comply with the Electrical Safety Regulations

Did you know that The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998 and The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 requires "any electrical equipment that has the potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe condition."

We know how important Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is and we take great care in ensuring both the safety of your employees and also your peace of mind.

Correct PAT Testing is essential in making sure users of appliances are safe and also a significant point when completing madatory HSE risk assessments in the workplace.

There are approximately 1,000 major electrical related injuries reported each year. These can involve burns and electrical shocks and of these injuries around 30 of them are fatal.

Electrical fires are the leading causation of workplace fires. These fires are likely to be attributed to broken / damaged cables and improper or overloaded use of electrical outlets.

On average kitchen appliances were accountable for 70-74% of electrical fires in the UK. Cables and connections accounted for a further 10-16% depending on the year.

A qualified PAT test can take just minutes per device for a minimal cost yet it can save a life in return

How will the PAT testing be carried out?

As recommended by The Health and Safety Executive KelHay Fire Protection PAT Testing is carried out a visual and electronic test. This will include examining plugs, fuses, cables and sockets.

Testing is necessary as faults may arise in electrical equipment that are not obvoius to the eye. For example internal damage may result from misuse or internal electrical connections may deteriorate over time.
